Once you turn 30, you start to notice your under eyes change. They look darker. More tired. Even when you slept fine.
The best concealer helps. But concealer alone isn’t the whole fix. Here’s why, and the two-step routine I use instead.
The quick answer
- Prep: Holi (Glow) Ageless Eye Serum for a healthy-looking glow
- Cover: Armani concealer
Why your under eyes get darker after 30
It comes down to collagen. Collagen is the protein that keeps your skin thick and bouncy. As we get older, our bodies make less of it. You start to feel it around 30.
The skin under your eyes is already the thinnest skin on your face. When it loses collagen, it gets even thinner. Then the dark color underneath starts to show through. That’s the shadow you see in the mirror.
Thin, dry skin is also why concealer can crease and look cakey under the eyes. So the trick is to give that skin some glow first, and then cover.
Step 1: Holi (Glow) Ageless Eye Serum
This is my first step. It gives my under eyes a healthy-looking glow, so they look awake instead of flat and tired. It also makes the skin a better base, so whatever goes on top looks smoother.

Step 2: Armani concealer
Then comes the concealer. The Armani concealer is my everyday pick. It covers the darkness without sitting heavy on the thin skin under my eyes.
How to put them on
- Pat a small amount of the eye serum under each eye.
- Give it a minute to sink in.
- Dot concealer only where it’s darkest, usually the inner corner.
- Tap it in with your ring finger. Less is more on thin skin.
Glow first, then cover. Your under eyes will look rested, not painted.
